Our research explores computer and memory architectures that make AI and data-intensive systems scalable, efficient, reliable, and programmable. We build complete hardware/software systems spanning coherent interconnects, memory and storage controllers, operating systems, accelerators, and real prototypes.
Our primary research interests are in advanced computer architecture and operating systems (OS), with an emphasis on hardware/software co-design for modular AI datacenters. Current work includes CXL-based resource disaggregation, multi-link fabrics, computational memory and storage, datacenter SSDs, and acceleration for LLM, RAG, graph, recommendation, scientific, and high-performance computing workloads. We strive to advance the frontiers of knowledge by conducting research that is not only theoretically sound but also has practical applications. Our work is driven by a passion for excellence, a commitment to innovation, and a relentless pursuit of cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in computer and memory architecture to create systems that are more intelligent, efficient, and secure, and that can enable a wide range of applications that were previously unimaginable.

Current research topics of our ongoing projects are as follows:
- Building modular AI datacenter architectures with CXL memory expansion, composable resource pools, and fabric switches
- Developing computational memory and storage for LLM, RAG, recommendation, and graph workloads
- Designing low-latency CXL controllers and accelerator-centric multi-link fabrics
- Improving datacenter SSDs and all-flash arrays through in-storage processing, reliability, thermal, and performance management
- Prototyping computational-memory systems with FPGA/RTL, chiplet, and SoC technologies

We have a couple of openings for Ph.D. students starting in the spring or fall semesters. Preference will be given to candidates with in-depth knowledge in computer architecture, memory, operating systems, and a strong mathematical background. All lab members will receive financial support and tuition waivers. Qualified Ph.D. students are expected to be familiar with state-of-the-art research published at top-tier conferences in the computer architecture and operating-systems field.
We are also looking for students, visiting researchers, and postdoctoral researchers interested in interdisciplinary research regarding hardware–software interaction, fault tolerance, power modeling, and energy-efficient system design.
